What are these pink things in my cage?

Post by KENfamily12 » Sat Nov 14, 2020 8:55 pm

In the last few weeks I am seeing little pink things in my cage that look similar to poop but are larger and harder. They almost look like tips of legs but are not. I’ve recently started feeding them apples since they love them so much. Is it possible they are just pooping lighter colored poop? This sounds ridiculous. Honestly when they first showed up I thought it was pieces of a recently molted crab’s exoskeleton because they look so strange. They don’t appear to be bugs.

If they are shaped like candy sprinkles, they are poop! It can come in different thicknesses and lengths and firmness, and what they are eating does affect the color. Mineral powders turns it white, carrots turn it orange, etc.

I rescued a crab recently, and while it was quarantining in a tupperware I put a damp yellow kitchen sponge in there for humidity. Well, even though the crab had plenty of food, it started eating the sponge and pooping yellow poops! LOL. Needless to say, I removed the sponge.
