Molting for four months?

Post by kayo1895 » Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:56 pm

I have a medium ecuadorian crab that has been in the same spot behind a rock for almost four months now. I assumed he was molting but now I am worried. It does not smell, but the area he is in has shifted due to the other crabs moving and what not. Is he dead?

Did he shed his exo?

Back when he first went under I accidentally lifted the rock where he is at and saw a grey ashy mold of his body so I am assuming that was his exo

Sorry, maybe I am not understanding. Is he under the sub still? Or is he on the surface?

Its all good. He is like partially buried behind a rock. He would always go behind it to rest before, and now he hasnt moved in four months and you can still partially see the back of his shell above the sub :/ Pretty worried at this point, but it does not smell so I am not too sure what to do. I have had one other crab successfully molt in the same tank, just worried if I should wait longer or dig him up and see.
