First Successful Molter :)

Post by crabbiepattiecake » Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:33 pm

Hi all! I’ve just been a lurker here for a few months, so this is my first real post...
I got my first crabs this past December, and my most active/strongest crab Hercules has had a successful molt in the ISO tank!! He’s currently underground still munching on his exo(you can see him through the bottom of the tank — don’t worry I didn’t disturb him), but I’m just so relieved that it seems to be going well. I had a couple others die from PPDS and failed surface molts, so I’m so grateful for Herc’s resilience.Image He also ate a ton beforehand, which probably helped him a lot.
Here’s a pic of him chilling underground, munching on his old exo! (We didn’t mean to disturb him at all btw, we didn’t even know that he molted until we carefully looked through the clear bottom to check on him and saw his exo there with him. We set out some new food/water/shells for him to check out once he surfaces Image)Image

Thanks you guys!!
He just surfaced and is lookin super buff. I’ll post some better pictures when he stops hiding from me haha. He’s a super deep reddish-purple now, and definitely looks bigger. I think he switched shells too. I’m so relieved that it went well!Image
