I can't get enough of this little guy!

This guy and three others were listed on the adoption forums. After a few messages and not thinking it was going to go through I made the 3.5 hour drive up to Rochester, NY. This guy is missing a leg but is very active and constantly exploring! After a good molt s/he should be as good as new! Never in a million years did we ever expect to get the chance to care for a Ruggie!

The other three crabs in this adoption are purples. Two of them are super tiny. Tiny as in as big as our biggest 2018 captive bred baby. The third purple is much bigger than the others. The people said he attacked another crab and may be the reason the Ruggie is missing a leg.

The back story goes, their daughter did the research on crabs for a long time and they got her everything they needed. The adopted these crabs from here in early December. They weren't aware that food mites were common with hermit crabs. I tried to assure them they are harmless and are undetected in almost every home. They still wanted to give them up.

Omg, how adorable...those eyes! Precious. So happy you got them and they will have a great home with lots of crabby friends. Have you named them yet? Do Ruggies require different care?

We have our 5 main tanks. Currently have 3 ISO tanks tanks to keep an eye on the crabs we got from the last two adoptions. We will keep them in those for about a month. I'm not too concerned with the ones from Rochester. The other one from Maryland has been sluggish and extremely spooky. We will hold that one in there until it molts.

We don't have any names yet. We usually wait until something sticks from their actions. As far as I can tell their care is similar to purples. There isn't much info in the care guides about them.

Wait until you see Xeno's tattoo! She has maybe one or two more sessions to go! It is absolutely amazing! It has I think four crabs. I think she has at least 40 hours into it so far! It is honestly the best hermit crab tattoo ever!

That sounds so awesome! She must post pics when it's done!
I don't have any tattoos but have always wanted one. Maybe when Covid settles down I can go to your guy. My family/friends are already starting to call me the crazy crab lady, so a crabby tattoo would be so neat. ImageImage
