Should I adopt a new hermit crab

Post by hermityhannah » Sun May 09, 2021 7:19 am

I currently own 1 hermit crab. However I do know that they are social animals and need a friend or two... The question I want to ask is it is very hard to find an ethical way of adopting hermit crabs here (South Korea) Pet stores are really the only way possible.. But then again, would it be better to just bring a hermit crab that is in terrible conditions in a pet store? Or should I really just not?

It’s a personal preference. They are found in groups in the wild but that’s more for resource exploitation than social bonding. Being alone hasn’t been found to have a significant effect on health or lifespan.
