I think I saw some weird white thing some out of my hermit crab's shell..

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it?
all purpose sand + coco fiber, 6 inches


2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read?
At the middle of the tank, usually over 26 Celsius and humidity about 80.


3. Is a heat source used in the tank? If so, what?
A 20W heat lamp.


4. What types of water are available (fresh or salt) and how is the water treated (what brands of dechlorinator or salt mix and what ratio is used to mix it)?
fresh and salt both available, water from water purifier and I'm not sure what the exact salt mix brand is. (Am going to change to Instant Ocean)

5. What kinds of food do you feed and how often is it replaced?
All natural foods, every 48 hours.

6. How long have you had the crab and what species is it, if known?
pp, abt 2.5 years

7. Has your crab molted, and how long ago did it happen?
I've never seen my crab molt.


8. What type of housing are the crabs kept in, what size is it and what kind of lid is on the housing?
13 gallon glass tank, plastic lid.

9. How many crabs are in the tank and about how large are they?
one, medium sized. (shell opening is 1 inch)

10. How many extra shells are usually kept in the tank, if any?
4 natural shells.

11. Have there been any fumes or chemicals near the crabitat recently?
about a week ago I accidentally sprayed some perfume about 2 meters away from the tank but I made sure to let the air pass by.

12. How often do you clean the tank and how?
about 3 months? Washing shells and stuff..

13. Are sponges used in the water dish? If so, how are they cleaned?
No sponges.

14. Has anything new been added to your crabitat recently?
I totally changed my tank about a week ago. New tank, new substrate, kinda new bowls and that's it.

15. Is there any other information you would like to share that might be helpful (anything that is regularly part of your crab care, playtime, bathing, etc.)?
The all-purpose sand was not washed.

16. Please describe the emergency situation in detail.
I was watching my hermit crab but then I realized some weird white string like thing (Like a parasite..............?) was coming out of his shell. I am freaking out.. I lifted him to see if anything's in there but I couldn't find anything.. Any ideas on what it may be?

Could it have been poop? Their poop can be just about any shade of white, gray, green, or brown. Did it look like a piece of vermicelli noodle?
