Anything that is porous (blanket, cardboard, towel, etc) won't hold in the humidity.
If you have an empty plastic shopping bag, you can cut it and tape it over the top of the tank to hold in humidity.
You will need a thermometer and hygrometer so you know what the temp and humidity are.

I didn't even think of plastic bags! And I used to use ziplock bags over my mesh years ago too. Must have had a brain lapse lol.

Thank you curly! I wasn’t sure what to answer on this one! I have a quick question will I got you here. I’m making lids for my 55 gallon tank. The wood is stained. As long as I don’t stain on the underneath and let it air out really good it should be okay for my hermies?
