I also now have 31 juvenile crabs in their larger tank and an unknown number from batch #3 still in the transition tank. I’ve got babies everywhere. What a wonderful problem to have

They look like little lobsters floating through the air in that pic lol! So cute. How's Nutmeg?

Lost track of which one was nutmeg but there is one on a totally different shell to the others in the juvenile tat so that’s Nutmeg now Image

Batch #4 Well out of the 415 in one jar I have about 40 left. Massive losses overnight. Not sure if it was poor water quality or the fact that I forgot to put beta food in and the marine snow and rotifers was not enough to sustain them. The other jar is still looking OK though.

Out of the 80 or so that I put into the transition tank from the last 2 batches I have moved 41 into the juvenile tank (to make room for the survivors from Batch #4. I'm pretty happy with those odds.

Relatively easy when transferring them by eye dropper into the raising situation. I use a straw and airline to get them out of the crabitat pool. Then I count as I put them from the bucket into the kriesel set up.

OK update. Batch #4 are now on day16 and I have 53 (I think) in the transition tank and none left in the jars. BUT only about 5 of them have gone to land and I can't see any of them now. Most have not yet ventured out of the water onto land at this stage.

The 44 who are now in the juvenile tank are going well roaming around and eating and venturing way up high and into the water. It is hard to tell how many I still have as the tank is bigger and there are so many hiding spots that I can't see at all. These are from the first 3 batches this year. One is therefore 4 months old but I have no idea if it is the biggest for certain. The others are either 12 weeks (3 months) or almost 8 weeks old

I captured 8 on the 5th July and took photos and did measurements of shell openings and leg span.
The one in the largest shell opening was 5.1mm but I didn't get a leg span for that one as it wouldn't come out for ages and ages. Then when it did it would only stand across the chart in the wrong spots. I THINK this is Nutmeg who is 4mths old but that is going purely on the shell and that may not be accurate.
The next others were :
5.02mm opening 16mm leg span
4.85mm opening 14mm leg span
4.58mm opening 10mm leg span
3.91mm opening 10mm leg span
3.72mm opening 12mm leg span
2.78mm opening unknown leg span
1.79mm opening 10mm leg span

I’ve removed all I could find in the juvenile tank and transition tank and I have measured and counted them. I now have 30 between 10 and 24 weeks old in one tank. I am going to move the larger ones back to the juvenile tank and keep the smaller ones in the new juvenile tank. 5 of those are from the last batch. So that means 25 of the 44 I moved into the juvenile tat at the end of June have survived. There may be a few more that were underground but I don’t think so.
