Snail

Post by HermitCrabCHICA » Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:57 am

Hey guys, I just got a pet snail and I have had him for about 3 days with no calcium source and I have picked him up by his shell 3 times. Please give me some tips how to care for him correctly.
RIP My precious Bubbles and Kelpcake. :(

What type of snail? Land or aquatic?

You got a snail without knowing how to properly care for it? This is not setting yourself up for success. When your crabs died, I recommended doing research and preparing for any new pet, prior to actually getting it. And now you are on a crab forum trying to learn how to care for your new snail. This is very disappointing.

Hermit crabs are not the cause of food mites in your room. Improper care and not taking out rotten food results in food mites. Did you take this snail from the wild? Animals from the wild don’t seem to thrive in captivity. If you want the best care I would recommend finding a forum that is meant for those type of animals.

Crabs absolutely do not bring in food mites....they are called food mites because it is the food that brings them in.
And most (if not all) of us on this site will disagree that crabs are 'gross'. They are cute, interesting, unique, simple, fascinating....I'm sure there are other adjectives that apply too!

I completely agree, my crabs are amazing, cute fun and I love them dearly. I am sure if you left food in with any animal it could bring in food mites so it’s not fair to blame it on your crabs.

Garden snails can carry a parasite that harms humans. Proper hygiene is important!

Personally, I am very fond of snails. I like the fact that they move at a slow pace, but always get somewhere. HermitCrabCHICA, maybe you can start a new forum or website for people who are interested in snails.
