Total loss of all zoea/mega. No idea really what happened they just didn't progress to mega and those that did failed to thrive.
This attempt is done and dusted.
Crazy crab lady with 1 male raised in captivity who is now 7 yrs old (Dec 23) and a 2 females I've added from rehoming or adoptions to add to my breeding colony.

I’m sorry for your loss as well! I’m sure you were an excellent crabby parent, perhaps it just wasn’t the right time. May another batch be more successful, with some beautiful hermit babies who can live long and happy lives!

:(

Well, bless you for trying! Can't win 'em all, I guess.

650 zoea into 2 jars so far. But I’ve got 3 females hanging around the salt pool tonight. Looks like I’m off again on this exciting ride

This seems like really important work! I hope it will be documented somewhere in detail, with records of growing conditions etc. Perhaps on a dedicated website or even better, written up and published in a journal (something on conservation biology? Crustacean biology?).

Mary Akers and Darcey Marsden in USA have both got blogs on what they are doing. My records are in a notebook or HERE

Well this attempt has gone the same way as my previous one a few weeks ago. Almost total loss on day 3. The only difference between this time and previous successful attempts is that I am using Continuum Fraction as water treatment instead of Seachem PRIME. That was the main difference last time as well.
I have put the remaining "survivors" into a jar of clean water with no treatment in it at all. The salt has been made for weeks but nothing has been added. I will get some PRIME in the morning and addd it to the jar.
I've been using Fraction in the pools in the juvenile tank as well so I will clean them out and change back to PRIME.
Pretty sure the large salt pool in the adult colony hasn't had any Fraction added as it is cycled. BUT I will clean that out tomorrow as well and start the cycle all over again but will add PRIME in the mean time.

Live and learn. There will be other batches.
