Aggressive Crab

Post by AirConditioner » Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:40 am

I have 3 Purple Pinchers, 2 are medium-large (sorry I don't remember how exactly crabs are sized but they're not small) and the 3rd one is just a bit smaller but he's hiding in the substrate right now.
Mr.Krabs being one of the larger ones was just standing on the end of a branch I have in their tank and Monkey (the other larger crab) climbs to where Mr.Krabs is and Monkey decides he wants to attempt to recreate the Mufasa death scene from lion king as he continues to back Mr.Krabs to off the branch even with krabs trying to avoid monkey by trying to hide under the edge, but then it looked like Monkey might've started to eat Mr.Krabs and I had to intervene and keep an eye on them now but it's 1:30am

I'm not sure what I can do to help Mr.Krabs as I can't stay up all night watching them and I already have plenty of cuttlebone in the tank for them to eat as there was a case of cannibalism beforehand (I'm hoping I was wrong this time), I have included a picture I just took of the branch since I can't explain things well and the aggressor is back on his throne after I took him off it to protect Mr.Krabs

any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm sorry if I don't respond right away, I won't be surprised if I fall asleep right after I post this but if that's the case I'll check it as soon as I wake up Image ImageImage

Have you tried dipping them in fresh water to neutralize their scents? And how much protein do they get daily?

I did notice that Mr.Krabs took a did in the fresh water after the ordeal and when I woke up they are both sitting on the branch without conflict right now but this sort of thing has happened in the past to my smaller crab as well (though not as aggressive, just seemingly wanted to get to "his spot" on the branch). I always have freeze-dried shrimp in their food bowl but I'm not sure how often they eat it since the fogger keeps filling it with water and giving it a foul stench
