Hermit crab molting but suspicious activity from other crab

So one of my hermit Crabs is molting. he buried himself fine and has been there for about a day, but today I walk in and my other crab is kinda sitting by in the entrance of the hole, and I was scared he was trying to eat him so I moved him away and much like a villain who's plan has been foiled crawls away into his coconut house. I put a cup over the entrance to the molter's hole, and his little burrow is under some rocks so I'm not worried about the potential cannibal getting in. Did I do the right thing putting the cup over the entrance if not what should I do.

Hermit crabs usually burrow away from the entrance so seeing someone sitting there isn’t usually a risk
