Fish question...
Hello fish friends! I was cleaning my tank today and found these little dots on the glass. I was thinking they are goldfish eggs? I did have my goldfish successfully spawn before, and produce one cute little baby. I found him in my filtration system, but he didn't make it past a couple of hours. Usually my goldfish eat any eggs they can find, but maybe these escaped?
Thanks!

Re: Fish question...
They look like goldfish eggs to me, apparently goldfish can lay 100 to 1,000 eggs at a time, maybe they ate the other eggs and left these ones? If you're wanting to keep the eggs to see if they'll hatch you should probably move them to a separate tank so they don't get eaten

Re: Fish question...
Thanks for your reply! Normally the eggs my female releases are more clear and round when I see them in the bottom. However, I knew these def weren't snail eggs, so I thought maybe these fish eggs just looked different. I found other clusters on my tank wall, but nothing ever happened with any of them. They still all looked the same from the time I posted. It's a little bit of a mystery lol!hermitcrablover2 wrote:They look like goldfish eggs to me, apparently goldfish can lay 100 to 1,000 eggs at a time, maybe they ate the other eggs and left these ones? I don't know then, maybe it's some leftover fish food or a fish poop?

Re: Fish question...
We had little dots before which turned out to be crystals of aquarium salt and calcium carbonate.

Re: Fish question...
Maybe you could try taking the dots out of the water and putting them in a bowl or something to look closer at them?

Re: Fish question...
I’m guessing they’re specks of debris, bacteria, or algae.

Thanks everyone! They're orange in color. I was able to pick one off with my finger nail, and it kinda broke up in the water. I'll just scrape the rest of on my next tank cleaning.

Re: Fish question...
I posted this quite some time ago, but thought I'd give an update. I finally know what these specs are. They're nerite snail eggs! I'm sitting here watching my fish, and I noticed my nerite snail with all these little specs under/on her. I'll see if I can grab a pic.
Also does anyone have/had nerite snails that have lived a long time? I've had the same 3 nerites for appx 5 years now.
