I wasn't quite sure where to put this but I know lots of people wonder if their molter is dead or alive so maybe they'll find this helpful. As posted in my emergency and other threads, I had one crab streaking while the other was also underground. Both were presumably molting. I isoed the streaker who later died but, at the time, I was pretty sure that the other crab was also dead. I also had an aphid infestation from the dead crab. I cleaned the surface as best I could and left it empty so I could see any movement.
This whole saga started in July and it's now October. I was getting ready to dig through the tank and find the other (dead) crab. Well, I was walking past the tank today and guess what I saw! My crab! He was somehow alive. I was completely shocked and had to scramble to put things back in the tank. I'd left water but nothing else. Unfortunately, I had to toss most of my decorations but I'll make a Dollarama run tomorrow and grab a couple things. I'm not sure what I'll do long term. I had planned on rehoming him but I'll wait a bit and see if I still feel that way. For now, meet the newly renamed "Frankenstein".
Here's him in the iso while I deep cleaned the tank.
