Question #1: Does anyone know what digital hydrometer/thermostat I should get for my tank? I would prefer it be from Petco, or Amazon so I can get it soon.

Question #2: How should I heat my tank, any suggestions? I would also prefer it to be from Petco, or Amazon so I can get it soon.

Question #3: Would an auto mister be good to have in my tank? If so any suggestions from Amazon, or Petco?

No, I find mist doesn't help humdity nearly as much as having good water pools, maybe some bubblers and moss, will, since the latter will be sources of water that can evaporate into the air while mist is just sprayed into the air to drift down and settle at the bottom, not much different than keeping your sub moist so that the sub water can evaporate into the air

For heating, I’m going with the Ultratherm UTH that was linked above. I didn’t want a lighted heat-source, so I started with a ceramic heat emitter, but decided to switch. Ultratherm has lots of great reviews, and I like that it doesn’t sit on top of the tank. I ordered late Saturday night, it was shipped Monday, and arrived Wednesday. I ordered from reptile basics. I’ll be putting it on the back side of the tank, as is recommended with such thick substrate.

Update! I purchased an ultratherm for my tank and I'm super excited about it! I spent an hour and a half waiting for my EE to expand and moisten yesterday, but now that is in the tank! I would put the sand in, but it's heavy and I'm going to have to move the tank to insolate the heater and I don't want to move it with 100 lbs of sand in it!

I also purchased a moss pit and some moss, and I am going to put moss in some other spots in the crabitat to help with humidity! I'm also going to get a glass lid most likely to help with humidity as well, so that's very exciting! Do you have any small, easy to use bubbler recommends for my two pools?

It's ok! Maybe if someone gives a good recommendation here or I find one and try it and end up liking it you will have one you know works well!

This group has been extremely helpful for me and I’m so grateful for all the info here

But, for me, it’s sometimes helpful to listen and watch rather than just read. She has a video about advanced water pool setups using bubblers, filters, etc. You might enjoy that!

We (crabbers in any group) generally don't go onto one group's forum and suggest going to another group for 'better' info.

Might just be me, but that sounds a bit inflammatory. When it comes down to bubblers and water care, sometimes it IS easier to watch/listen than to read, to be able to see what they're doing instead of trying to visualize it. I don't think Chickadee was suggesting going to another group for better info, but just putting a helpful hint out there. We're allowed to learn from one another, and that might mean branching out to other groups to learn from them. That's just my opinion, and I respect yours.

I agree with pumpkin! You would say you are knowledge about a topic and only read one book about it, just like how you would not say you are knowledgeable about a topic and only use one resource! And I'm not saying that the info here at HCA is not knowledgeable, I actually think HCA has great information, but HCA can't touch everything, and it is ok to use other resources to gain knowledge about different topics, it helps you learn more! I think it's wrong to get upset at people for sharing useful resources.

Also, I would love that pumpkin it would be so helpful! I actually used what we talked about, did some searching and planning and my new crabitat is coming along! I will send you pics soon so you can take a look! Thanks again for the help!

By saying "crabbers in any group" you are talking about a large group, and by doing that and then saying the rest of your sentence you are making a false statement about a large group of people. I have had many crabbers here, and elsewhere give me suggestions on other groups that have more information on a topic that I have searched for here and not found information that suits my purpose, we all have access to resources, and them sharing one that has what I need specifically, or something else to look at to consider is very helpful in my opinion. They were not saying that the group they listed has "better" information, they where sharing it because it is a different way to get information, and may have some information that is not here on HCA which may be helpful to me. I don't think it's right to speak for a large group as you are one person, just my opinion.

No I have not, sounds interesting! I like the fact that it's in alignment to what you have read here! Everyone retains information definitely, so I get videos being easier to follow sometimes, glad you have a good source that helps you learn more about different crab topics! And that video sounds great, I will be sure to take a look!

They also said that they are really grateful for this group and have learned so much here, but they retain information better from being able to hear/see them rather then read, which is totally understandable! They also said that their stuff is in alignment to what they have seen here!

I never said or implied that it was “better” info, I said the information she shares is IN ALIGNMENT with the information here. The education this group provides is the standard to which I measure other sources against. So I’m confused as to how my comment was so misconstrued and you perceived it as offensive.

Additionally, I wasn’t even recommending another GROUP. I suggested a YouTube channel. Videos are really helpful to me, and to many people, which is why I made the suggestion. It’s never a bad thing to have multiple good resources.

Pumpkin and KyMart, I’m glad you both understood my intention and where I was coming from
