CT - Crabby needing a new home :)

Post by Johnny1100 » Sun Aug 13, 2023 2:22 pm

Hi all,
This is pretty urgent as I'm planning on moving in a few weeks and would love to give my crab to someone experienced and responsible. He's a good size, I think an XL, and I've had him for a few years now. I live in New Canaan, CT, and would be willing to travel an hour or two away to meet up, though I'm not willing to ship. He'll come with a 20 gallon tank too. I won't lie, he's not the friendliest around some other crabs but I never had the space to get another tank for him.
I do not want to hand him off to someone brand new to owning a crab, I really want to put him in the hands of someone who will take care of him.
Let me know if you're interested!

Also, if no one is available to adopt I won't leave him after the move. He may have a rough couple of days of car rides but he'll come with me so no worries :)

Hi - Have you moved yet? We can offer a good home for your grumpy crab (we'll call him GC ;). If you're still in CT I'll be in your area soon to take care of my ailing father for a few weeks (until hospice can be arranged :(.

My son (& family) has been caring for two purple pinchers for a few years - they're currently a little larger than golf ball size (moving up to larger shells next molt) & reside in a nicely setup 20g crabitat, but will soon enjoy a major upgrade to 45g (lucky CraigsList find) with double heaters, insulation, thermostatic/humidity control, a commensurately expanded water area & more fun stuff added as we "redecorate".

We'll have plenty of room for "GC" :).Fyi, we're attentive crab keepers - our little buddies get treated to being outside (supervised roaming freely in our flower garden) frequently during agreeable weather & are even allowed to roam around inside the house occasionally (yes, absolutely as tricky as it sounds).

Hopefully the timing will work out with your move!

Please advise as to your status asap.
