Good morning, I'm a new crabber. My children won a hermit crab from the fair and, O boy, I never realized how much care they need. I have bought a lot of things for this lil fella already and am willing to get whatever he needs. I now realize what a horrible situation these little guys go through.
I am wondering if I could temporarily use a human back heating pad under super careful observation until my tank heating pad comes in? Should I use it on the side he currently "hides" in or more in the middle in case it's too warm? I only have 2 inches of play sand substrate currently as I'm waiting for the ecoearth to come in.
I've been using hot hands under the tank near his hide in the mean time and I just don't feel it's keeping him warm enough. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance!

Re: Heating
You probably could use one very carefully - don't put it under the tank.
Do you have any insulation on your tank? What do you have for a lid?
What is the current temperature in the tank?
If you haven't already checked out our care sheets, start with the 'basics' one then go from there.
