2 Female Purple Pinchers - Breeding

Post by crabbyguy » Sun Mar 10, 2024 1:39 pm

Hello!

I have had hermit crabs for about a year now. I have two females (sexed by me) and 2 currently molting who have not been sexed.

I would love to try breed this summer, but unsure where to start. I have supplies for a Kriesal Tank and want to get it started soon. I am unsure of the sex of the other two, but they are smaller for sure. If they were males, would them being smaller make it less likely for them to breed?

Tips/tricks and or updated resources are welcome! I have seen a lot of "broken" links on the forum and Google. :( ]

We have a breeding page on the forum. Some of the photo and video links are no longer working but most of the information is still there.

I only had mating behavior once I had very large males. All my eggladen females have been mediums or older. Females do not need a male present to produce eggs, but the eggs will be unfertilized..
