New tank pics

Post by Jenny55 » Thu Mar 21, 2024 10:23 pm

I just wanted to share pics of my new 40gal breeder, I have been so excited about this new hobby and wanted to share with you guys. I finally moved in 2 of my 3 crabs friday then my original guy Gerald moved in last night (I waited a few days after he came up from a molt).

I've only been at this since last summer, came home with the awful things they sold me at Myrtle Beach and 2 crabs (thought it would be fun to get them while on vacation with my great niece and nephew, who actually named them) and then 2 weeks later had my first 10gal tank set up after learning about proper care. Gerald is doing great, Leonardo da Pinci died in the fall and I had gotten 2 more since then, Darla and Peanut. I learned so much from this site, Crab Street Journal and Crab Central Station. My tank was inspired by some of their ideas and I'm trying out filtered pools.

So far all is well, had to get another heat mat from Bean Farm to attach to the side since the back wall has cork tile attached. But they are exploring and seem to like it. I'm pretty proud of myself so want to share with all who helped me along the way. Thank you so much! ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I currently have a 40 breeder, but have a 65 gallon in the garage that I hope to get set up on Easter weekend! I've always had a very basic tank, but I got the 65 and all the stuff the previous owner had, along with the two crabs I recently acquired. It will be my first 'not basic' tank....and I have had my crabs for over 13 years.

You did a great job! 👏 I'm setting up a 40g breeder tank this week and you definitely gave me a few inspirations! I love the wood climber backdrop and those little coconut hut moss pits are such a good idea! Btw, the pools look beautiful. Your crabbies are very lucky they went home with someone who did the proper research & work :)
