Will Hermit crabs be okay with a Cello?

Post by Crab.Lover » Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:53 pm

I resently got a cello and two hermit crabs (the cello is for school) and I want to know if they'll be okay with the cello's sound and also vibration due to it touching the ground. My crabs are on top of a shelf at least five feet in the air (it's very sturdy). I just want to know if I can distress them or harm them when I practice in my room over the next few days.

Hi! I'd say just keep an eye on them when you start to practice. If they don't seem stressed or freaked out, you're prolly good to go. I have an Amazon Echo Dot in my crab room. I have it play music when I'm in there doing stuff for my fish, crabs, and tortoise. I don't turn it up crazy loud, but it's high enough I can jam if I want too lol. None of the critters, including the crabs seem to mind. They continue to eat, climb, and do their thing like I'm not there lol.

Good to hear that the crabbies are not stressed out by the music.
My experience with pets (dogs) is they are more relaxed, when a guitar or piano is being played.
So it would be cool if the crabs actually enjoyed the cello. Sort of like "fiddler crabs"...heh heh.
