HELP! Out of shell

Post by hlabone72 » Sat Sep 07, 2024 6:38 am

He/She has been out of his shell off and on since yesterday - lost two legs. I have confined it to a container in the space, with a small amount of water in the bottom and several shells. In and out, in and out and out again this morning. I don't know what else to do and feel like he's going to die. I'm so upset. I'm leaving it alone except to peak here and there. Covered and in the dark as well.

What can I do????? :(

I'm sorry he passed. You had him iso-ed with shells and water, so I don't think there was much more you could have done.

I am sorry he passed away.
You didn't have him for very long, and he wasn't in good conditions prior to your getting him. Even if we do everything correctly, crabs often cannot over come the damage that has been done living in poor conditions.

Thank you both. At least he had a little better home and better food before he left. :( Still makes me sad. Now my other one is all alone.

But seems to be doing well, I spotted it last night eating away. Even took the pecan back to his coconut shell for a midnight snack. I do have two more friends coming for him or her. Haven't figured that out yet. I will also be moving them all to a new 20 gallon asap! I have the tank - as soon as the heating pad shows up I will get it set up and everyone settled in.
