I belive that this is one of those, among many, areas of hermit crab care that can be called a grey area, mainly because there hasn't been any thorough empirical evidance for or against. For the time being, I say it is best to use a slightly conservative logic. Better to go without than to do potential harm...

I have downloaded several of Greenway and Farelley's papers... I may have this one on my hard drive. If I can find it, I'll upload it and link it.Chestersmom wrote:

She never really did seem to like it now that I think of it, and now I bath my guys only when neccessary. However my crabitat isn;t big enough for a bathing place so I have to spray them regularly. But I do this when I let them run around and just kinda spritz over them. They seem to like this allot cause they kinda pause under the mist and wiggle there antenas at me.

Okay so I'm a little confused...since I guess I'm not supposed to be using fish tank water w/ a drop or two of stress coat that leaves me with using tap water...yet it appears that all the water conditioners to declorinate the water contains some stress coat/slime coating?
So what is this discussion recommending to use as a water conditioner for tap water?
If it was posted above I apologize if I missed that.
Thanks.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

That has actually not really been adressed, as that finding became well known after this was written. I believe that there are one or two brands of dechlorinator that do not contain a slime coat additive, but as it stands now, there is kind of a mute point about slime coat additives in drinking water.
