I'm going to call tonight. There is an hour difference so I am going to leave here at 8:30 and be on their doorstep when they open at 9:D

Just got off the phone with PetCo. Conversation went a little like this

Me: Do you have any strawberry hermit crabs?

PetCo Guy 1: Um...we carry them but I don't think we've got any in---hold on. Hey do we have any of them strawberry hermit crabs (talking to PetCo Guy 2)

PetCo Guy 2: (from the background I hear) Is that the lady from Knoxville?

PetCo Guy 1: Are you the lady from Knoxville?

Me: Yes

, I just wanted to make sure you had them before you closed.

PetCo Guy 1: Yes, we are holding 4 for you

Me: Thanks (hung up)

First of all they all probably hate me by now.
Second why didn't they tell me in the first place instead of giving me the run around about how they couldn't do that?

So in conclusion the guy I talked to the second time (earlier today) has no clue what is going on around him

Long winded, get ready

I drive a 100 miles to PetCo only to discover that they have two tanks full of PPs and Es. They might be in the back I'm told and they go check. Nope we must have sold them last night

. OK I say, can I talk to your manager? He (district manager) comes out and explains to me that he is sorry, but they can not hold animals. During our conversation the other manager (store manager) comes in that actually was the one who called me and told me they were in and she would hold them. (I'm still being nice at this point) I told him that I called about 45 minutes before they closed last night and they said they had them on hold for me. He said he would have to wait for that person to come in and ask them because it was my word against theirs. Thankfully the other manager pops up and tells him that she put a sign on the cage for them to be held and she told all of the employees herself not to sell them. Now he looks at me and says I'll make sure they know not to hold animals for anyone. I then told him that I didn't want anyone to get into trouble for it, and he said they wouldn't. He was starting to act like he wasn't going to help me with anything. (This is when it got a little ugly) I said (dirty word) I just drove 100 miles to get straws that I was told were here. I preferred PetCo over PetSmart, but I'm starting to wonder. He then changed his tune and offered to pay for my gas, which I gladly accepted and became nice again. After we talked for another 5-10 minutes he said he thought he might be able to solve the problem. He would personally get the next four straws that came in and overnight them to me. I can pay by phone and he will cover shipping

. So to end my ranting: I was very disappointed this morning for them not to have them, but I got great customer service

Eeehhh, I'm sorry that you didn't get your straws today and that you drove so far, but I'm glad that you got decent customer service. Please let us know when you do get your little beauties.

OMG I am really thinking that they never had them???? and were mis-Id? Or like you said you called before they closed what is the chance that they were sold during that time frame.....maybe they were sold earlier and the other guys lied? I am bummed for you...hopefully you wont have to wait too long for the next batch

Herm I thought that too......that they never got them in. He went and checked his "on hands" and it showed up zero. The other manager said she put them in the system when they came in. I believe her, she seemed to know what she was talking about. I was just happy he gave me the gas money. The 'Stang guzzles the gas

How frustrating!! I would have lost my head! At least you come in on top of things when all is said and done. I wish I had a Petco in my state. I have zero chance of getting straws.

I try to be nice at first. If things aren't going my way then I go to angry. If things start to go my way then I go back to nice. Most of the time it works

well, at least you eventually got through to him. i have also driven 1.5 hours (each way) to a Petco in search of straws, which i didn't find, but i wasn't smart like you to call to see when they got in.

Geez I cannot believe that happened to you! I'm so sorry! At least you got the gas money but that totally sucks!!!
