I forgot all about this...
I was at my parents one day and my husband snatched the paper away from me. I asked him what the article that was clearly so important to him was about, and he refused to tell me for fear of me snatching the paper back! Here's a <LINK> to the article:
My husband wanted to email him and make sure he had the care right and everything and link him to this site. Who knows! Maybe something small could have made his crabs live a bit longer. The conditions couldn't have been all that bad though, if he averaged 3 years. I just thought it was interesting to read.

Huh. I don't like that the writer says they only live 3 or 4 years. They ideally should be living a lot longer than that. They also mentioned that they had a screen lid.
That is funny, my crab tank is also in the kitchen. It was the only wall where I had space, and I wanted it to be near a window. We don't eat seafood in my house though, only the crabs do, so they never have to worry about seeing a distant relative being dropped into a pot on the stove.

awww, seems like he cared (to an extent) about his hermit crab. Nice to know.
One of my tanks is also in the kitchen b/c its the warmest place in the house...so I have no need to run heaters or lamps...on that tank anyways.
Speaking of eating seafood. Bf and I went to the Olive Garden and he got something with shrimp and I almost threw up...not only did it remind me of naked hermies but it smelled like dead crab.

You could tell by the article that he didn’t have the care down perfect, but he was clearly doing good-ish and cared a lot about them!
I eat seafood, including crabs – but don’t tell them that! (Don’t tell them that after lobster – crab is one of my favorites)
I have a couple of tanks in my kitchen, one in my living room… two in my bedroom.. .*sigh*

its good to see that he cared about his crabs. but the thing about the crabs peeing on his wife's hand, it was only shell water as their pee comes off their atenae in gaseous form.

As long as our crabs don't know... it's okay, right?
And yes... I knew he had to be wrong about the peeing. Godzilla is my worst crab for losing water out of his shell. I've told him 2983439874 times it's because his shell is so small he doesn't have room for the water - but he doesn't listen! He's SO stubborn.
