For a heating pad there is no wattage but I think you can get sizes for different sizes of tanks . The heating pads are normally by the reptile supplies.

I use Oceanic... I hear Red Sea is also a great brand.

Those are both Marine Salt mixes and can be found at the pet store with the other Marine Salt supplies. :)

wattage for UTH

Post by Guest » Mon Jul 17, 2006 12:40 pm

actually the UTHs are marked for the tank size. You will have to decide on a "5-10 gallon" or a "10-20 gallon." If you live in very cold area or keep your rooms cold, you may need a 10-20gal UTH, but if your home is kept very warm or you use lamps too, you might only need a 5-10gal UTH.

In my case I use a 40watt moonglo bulb around the clock 24/7 (on a clip-on style desk lamp above the tank lid), but this winter I am going to have to add a 5-10gal UTH to maintain the right heat since our office heat is left off on evenings and weekends.

I use a UTH and lights. A UTH just isn't enough heat. I use 15 watt bulbs in the summer and 40 watt in the winter.
