big 'un's bday cake

Post by annopia » Tue Aug 22, 2006 6:37 pm

I made a hermit crab "cake" today to celebrate the fact that my PP, Big 'un, has been with me a year now (I have also been crabbing now for exactly a year). I hope the crabs all like it, its also kinda a reward for them moving to their new tank today.

"cake": layers of papaya, banana, orange, peach, kiwi, and pear.

"toppings" (all choped or powdered): almond, pecan, english walnut, black walnut, cashew, peanut, blue violet, chickweed, wheat grass, strawberry leaves, mangrove meal, watercress, elder flowers, pink rose cuttlebone, spirulina, rooibos, cornflower, calendula, and triple flower mix.

here's a link to a pic I took of it:

how long do you think it'll take for them to knock it over?

Looks like a yummy cake. Happy birthday to your big one, and congrats on a year of crabbing! :D It sure would be funny to see one of the crabs on the top of that cake.
Crabbing since 7/4/04 - 10 years!
I'm not asking salvation from you - I'm just asking to be safe for a while
make it easy - make this easy
it's not as heavy as it seems
wrapped in metal -wrapped in ivy - painted in mint ice cream

there was definatly a party in the crab shack going on! It was almost hard to believe, but here's who all piled into the XL cocohut in the tank: Big 'un a large (the birthday boy!), Go Go a medium, Mushie a medium, Lila a small, and Turtle a small. i don't know how they managed it! the birthday cake was drug into the crab shack (well, parts) and a good time was had by all. the only crab not present was the Doubleknit Crab, the teenie and my smallest. I can only assume that whatever the festivites included, it was not suitable for baby crabbies  .

Wow! Beautiful cake! I would hate to have to cleant that up once they get it all over the 'tat! I bet Big 'Un is eying that cake with big eyes and a watering mouth!

And apparently, Big 'Un cant decide what to wear to his party today. I think that one shell makes him look fat. (lol just kidding  )

Happy Birthday Big 'Un

Happy Crabbiversary, Caroline, thanks for helping me out with my questions!
