Thank you! My brain cells are definately disappearing because I couldn't even come up with the beginning letters of his name! So frusterating... :? :D

Thanks to you all for your helpful advice! :P
I PMed both Mokulele_Hawai'i and tonycoenobita to ask them if they can tell me something about special needs etc. of this species.

@MacandHunter: What a sweet idea to name them "Blueberries"!
So I guess I have six Blueberries, or "Blues"(?), now... :D

They seem to be doing fine by the way, roaming around in the terrarium. They also seem to be more active during daytime than my PPS, but that could also be due to the jet lag the transport may have caused...

Anyway, they're feeding well on the food I offered them and one has already got himself a new shell!

I'm going to let them destress for another few days, though, before upsetting them again by taking more fotos...

CU,
Dario

I thought they were called blueberries before .

I wish they had them here. :( I've always wanted one! :(

Yeah ... I suggest "Okinawan / Ryukyuan Blueberry"

Hi everybody!

I finally managed to take some more photos of my new C. purpureus!

The photos I've taken are of a pretty small one with medium strong colouring and the biggest one which is actually not blue or purple at all, but rather sandy in colour.

I posted the photos to the German Hermit Crab Forum, so please click here
http://hermitforum.siteboard.de/hermitf ... ut400.html
to view them!

Please note the darker spot on the big pincher of both crabs!
I found that all my C. purpureus have it, so I think it it might be a characteristic by which they can be distinguished from other species.

Enjoy the photos and take care!
Dario

Awesome! I noticed the spot on the BP and wondered if it was specific to the species. They are beautiful!!! Hope you post more pics.
