Well I read the ingredients and it has coconut milk and potassium bisulphide in it, so I did some research and potassium bisulphide is an agent that is used to prevent fungal, yeast and bacterial growth, so I figured since it's not an insecticide that it should be ok.
I poured enough in my petri dish to cover the bottom of the dish and stuck it in the tank. Then I vacuumed the house and I came back and Parfait is sitting by the dish drinking, she's been at it for a good 15 minutes! I'm so happy, she's been worrying me lately with lethargy and so on and to see her so enthusiastically eating is great! I love finding new foods for the crabbies!

canned coconut
I love it when they really go for something! Mine do it w/ canned water chestnuts and I've heard canned olives are a hit too.
A word of caution, tho'-- canned foods absorb metals especially when they are highly acidic like tomatoes and the cans lined w/ white stuff is epoxy. Crabs can't handle too much exposure to metals, so you'd only want to feed canned foods occassionally. Also, most canned items are loaded w/ salt--the harmful kind.

yeah I wondered about how much metal would be absorbed, which is why I only gave them a little bit. If there was added salt that would have to be on the ingredient list, and it's not so I should be ok as far as salt is concerned. She managed to take up quite a bit of the milk too, like a 1/4 of what I gave them!

canned foods in moderation
Good call. Moderation is the key. The gal at crabworks has been feeding her crabs vienna sausages (canned) occasionally and her two crabs are over 30 years old, so you can't condemn canned food altogether w/ that sort of success. But there is enough evidence that canned foods should be fed w/ caution and some may choose to avoid it altogther.
