what do you or they mean by adult? could they be marine hermits? some species are bigger or smaller than others, like indos have a bigger claw compared to thier bodies than other species. i'm not sure what age or size is considered to be adult though for crabs.

If you mean the size of a quarter, that really isn't big at all.

I'm not sure what you mean by "adult". Hermit crabs start out life as aquatic eggs, then become free floating larvae then come to land and turn into their adult form, which is the form we see as crabs. Size depends on age and species of crab, but basically if you're looking at it and you're thinking "yep that's a hermit crab" then it's in its adult form. If you're thinking of adult as able to reproduce, I'm not sure what age/size crabs need to be to reproduce, however that would change between species.
