Rex's Molt

Molts always give me gray hair. I worry too much about my crabs when they molt.

Last summer Megs got me in touch with a woman who had a crab to give away. His name is Rex (After Rex Grossman of the Bears). Well one crab turned into THREE after a friend heard I was adopting and wanted to give away hers too. LOL OF COURSE I took them!

Well, Rex is a large and he needed to molt BADLY! His tips were really worn but he was active and healthy! Here he is when I brought him home.

Well, he finally molted and he's got some wicked sharp toenails! He just came up this morning! What a sweet face he has! MWAH!

Wow, Wickie!!! He looks WONDERFUL!!! Such a cutie!!! He is a large, huh? He looks smaller than that in the pictures. How long did it take him to complete his molt?

P.S. ~ We will forgive him his name.....Poor guy named after a Chicago Bear.

He is a large NOW, Kathy. I think he grew three sizes after this molt!!!!

I know. He's not my husband's choice either and he IS a Bears fan! LOL So we just pretend he's named after Rex Harrison or something...lol

I was pretty nervous about this molt. I'm so happy to see he came through. He's been chowing down the cuttlebone/eggshell/ honey mixture like crazy!

he does look very good after his molt, I'm loving those sharp toenails!
