Any ideas why my crabs are getting brighter after each molt?

Post by Guest » Wed May 28, 2008 10:54 pm

Over the past month I've had 3 molters and every one has gone from orange or tan before the molt, to pink or purple afterwards. I have seven crabs in my main tat, all of whom have molted once or twice and until now they have never changed color.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing it's their diet. Since before these guys molted I've added Jurasidiet Hermit crab food, freeze dried river krill, pineapple, and plum to their diet.

Diet probably has a lot to do with it. Crabs' coloring also darkens as they grow& age.

I've heard things about krill helping color... I don't know for sure, but it's food for thought
