Bull Thistle?

Post by Kilimanjaro » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:04 pm

Alright, I went ahead and harvested three dozen flower heads from a plant that I thought was milk thistle.

After further examination, I managed to figure out that it was actually a bull thistle. They are related to milk thistles and are in the same family.

My question is...

if milk thistle is okay for the hermit crabs, would bull thistle be alright? I am usually not one to do food trials, but what do you all think?

I would err on the side of caution. If you don't know, why risk it? Just bc they are related doesn't mean they're both safe.

I decided not to feed them and threw them outside in the garden. I figured I wouldn't risk it for now, although I have tried some foods before.
