super picky crabs eat nothing!

Post by Guest » Thu Jul 24, 2008 9:36 am

My crabs are so picky! They eat raspberries but they are too expensive. They eat turkey and chicken but I can't make that every night. That's all they seem to like!

Try cooking and shredding a breat/thigh of chicken/turkey, and freezing it for them, it thaws fairly fast, take out what you need to feed them, and put the rest back. I would try introducing something else as well, my crabs LOVE dried cranberries, as well as grapes, they lovvveee their grapes! I think my babies would be very upset if I didnt give them their grapes! They have to have em lol. Good Luck, trial and error is part of our lives, you will find more foods they like eventually :o

At first I thought my crabs were picky, but they may not accept the food on the first time you put it in the tat...try different foods once or twice..

Mine really love cucumber slices along with blackberries, egg, eggshell, rose petals, sunflower leaves, blackberry leaves, chicken, cuttle bone and honey!..

Maybe if you bought some premade food? Like the kind NarNar sells..
Just remember they need a lot of nutrients..

I try to combine stuff like today's nutty plum paste. It's plum copped to a pulp with peanut butter and powdered almonds. Almonds powdered in one of those crushing bowls. I tried it. It was OK for humans but hey, they eat flowers and stuff!

Why not buy from The Happy Hermit Crab? I have never heard of a crab that did not like NaRnAR's foods.

raspberry, carrots, peppers, turkey, peanut butter, honey, cherry (one likes cherry not the other), almonds, plum, potato. Maybe more that I forgot over the past 4 months. Yeah! That's the longest my crabs ever lived! One was from a kiosk (it died in a week due to pps but it got me into crabbing) then another I bought dead. Stupid store! Gave me my 5 bucks towards another crab or purchase. I chose hygrometer.

Didn't I read somewhere that potato is bad for hermits because of the high starch intake? Or is that another myth?
