What size UTH for my tank???

Post by Guest » Wed Apr 22, 2009 8:14 pm

It is starting to get a bit cold here at night and in the mornings so I was going to get an UTH for my tank. What size would I need for a 2 foot tank??? :?:

I keep on forgetting that the southern hemisphere has its seasons opposite the northern hemisphere. :hlol: When its getting warmer and greener here in the States, its getting colder and more barren in Oz. ( like my Aussie lingo there? )

However, I digress. As for your question, I would recommend that you use a UTH that is made for a tank twice your tank's size. For example, a 30 gal tank ( don't ask me to convert to liters, my math is terrible :? ) should have a 60 gal UTH. This is because of the deep substrate. The more you have in the tank the more heat you need to use to keep the proper temp, in both the substrate and the air.

Hope this helped. :D
