Thanks for the heads up. I keep it out of the tank on the top in a pretty bowl, the fog flows over the bowl and into the tank. I love the look of it. I over filled the pool and did stick it in a few mins but i watched it. Its hard not to watch! Im so loving a fogger. Im so glad you gave me the idea. My crabs thank you too!

Ah, I can't read the whole first page. It won't show up. Is this the exo terra fogger you're talking about? It's cheaper than the repti fogger. If you had to pick one, which one would it be? thanx

I just ordered this fogger (the Zoo Med one that the OP posted) for my new 55 G that I will set up next week when everything arrives! I have never had problems maintaining humidity, but the 55 seems so much bigger than the 20 I thought it couldn't hurt, and it looks like it will be fun for the crabs :D

Ive seen replacement parts on ebay for them. Maybe its something simple, i would take it back it hasnt been that long! Did you keep the reciept?

If you go to replace it, I can tell you I love my cheeper one and have seen it on ebay for way less then the 49.99 pet smart has it for, it has a auto shut off, i leave it pluged in and drop it in the bowl when i need humidity, if the water level gets to low it shuts off automatic.

I hope it all works out for you, they are not cheep.

I talked with Zoomed today and if I send it to them they will send me out a replacement. So I just need to find the receipt and get it sent out.

She was like Ive never heard of them being completely dead..usually its the water detector that gets stuck...I was like nope, it wont turn on...its dead. :( Good to know they will replace it....especially since it was sort of expensive!

Very good to know! I just got mine and set it up for the first time last night. One of my crabs was very interested in it and climbed right up the driftwood to get as close to the mist as he could so I think he liked it :D Hopefully it won't have a problem but it's good to know that zoomed will replace it if it does.

On a side note, after looking at it, it seems to be exactly the same thing as the cool mist humidifiers that I use in the boys' rooms when they have the sniffles... Why couldn't you just get one of those for $20, some duct tape and a piece of flexible hose from home depot and make one for a lot less? Hmmmm. The ones I have hold a gallon of water too. Just a thought!

True they are just humidifiers. ;)

I sent my base back to Zoo-Med yesterday, since its within the 90 day warrenty with them they are going to replace the base. They think somehow water got into the electrical board. *shrugs* I dunno...Im just glad they are replacing it.

i was actually thinking that crabola, but i personally have limited space above my tat and the smaller, travel ones (from bed bath and beyond) were like 60$ wow! i don't even think they are the ones that are meant to be left on for long periods of time and they're so expensive
this is the one i mean

Here you go, I think I've seen this one even cheaper too, maybe like 12 or 15 bucks... just tape a hose on and away you go:

I have to say, working in conjunction with the Hygrotherm, I love this fogger even more :) The Hygrotherm controls your heater and fogger and keeps the temps and humidity perfect all the time 8)
