I made a cute little stirfry for them tonight. It smelled so yummy, I wanted to eat it. That's rare with hermie food for me, haha.
One shrimp, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, snappeas, I thiiiink green peppers, all fried with sweet almond oil. On the side was tangerine and some fresh flower petals I can't remember the name of.

I've got a zoo in my house. I should charge admission.

Hard egg crab cakes -
1egg and shell
Some alfalfa, ground cuttlebone, corn meal, some sort of smell dead sea life, and sesame seeds to top.
Smash egg and shell in a bowl, add the other ingredients until it is CHOWDER consistency. If it is to thick add water or if its to watery add some more alfalfa or add some oats.
Then pour in a EVOO greased pan and cook until golden brown on each side. ( medium heat )
For those who don't know EVOO- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Results on how they liked it?
They really took a liking to it. They pulled pieces off and dragged it around the tank. I topped it with honey and sesame seeds!
Enjoy!

What's on today's menu & recipe sharing 3/2010-9/2010
Here's a good staple I'd recommend for virutally any species -
Shattered Coconut:
Because whether the land hermit is a PP from the Virgin Islands
Or from the center of the Pacific, both "Straws" and "Indos"
Or even just a "true land crab" hanging out with the "hermits"
...they seem to be built to live off the stuff, every part of it, even the fibrous husk and coco-shell.
Here's directions on how to split one, btw, for the forumites who are not to familiar:
http://www.wikihow.com/Open-a-Coconut
I shatter mine after splitting it open using a hammer or bagging it and hitting it on the pavement repeatedly... Then I'd save the uneaten portions in the freezer and store until use. They'd usually be useful after freezing for over a month or so.
