3M command adhesive hooks?

Post by KrabbyKelly » Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:40 pm

Has anyone used those 3M command adhesive hooks to hang things in their crabitat? Are they safe? I am having trouble with suction cups sliding down the walls and falling off. I dont really want to adhere things with aquarium sealant because I like to move things around and change things to keep it fun and interesting for myself and the crab kids. Specifically,I am having trouble keeping the hemp hammock I just crocheted in place. Any tips are appreciated.

i use suction cups, i wet the back of the suction cup first then stick it to the tank glass. Depending on how much weight is being hung from them I may let them dry for a day. The suction cups I use are the ones where the hook moves, you pull the hook straight out, stick it, & then push the hook down & the hold on these is really strong. I got them at Lowe's, they're called
interDesign Decorative Clear Suction Cup HookAs far as the 3M hooks, I'm not sure if the humidity over time would unstick (is that even a word?) them

I've read that the Command hooks work well, but I have not tried them.

Those sound like a great idea so long as their safe....suction cups are a pain, they fall down ALL THE TIME. Unless their the ones Irene is talking about, those ones stick well.

they do make Command Strips that are water resistant, but I've never seen them sold with the hooks, only as replacement strips.

I use lettuce clips for my net. They were intended for the use of holding lettuce for fish. They work very well!

I used those hooks but I think my crabs read the directions cause they removed them .LOL
They go on really well but the crabs took them down.

I now use those and they work magic! I have 80% humidity and no problems! They hold the net so well, it never falls off!

I used them this year to hang my Christmas wreaths outside on the windows because my suction cups kept falling down. Not only did they hang up there and not fall down but they hung up there with thick ice & snow stuck to the wreaths. The wreaths hung from Nov 26th- Jan 6th, and the hooks are actually still out there now, I haven't taken them down yet. Needless to say I am very pleased. No more suction cups for my wreaths!

I also found a nice command brushed nickel finish hook to hang on my front door. I'm just going to leave it there so I can hang stuff on it all year.

I have not tried them in the crabitat yet but I plan on it.
