Not sure what to do...

Post by hpnodat » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:32 am

We bought 4 crabs on December 27th. One dug down the first night and 2 of other ones dug down the 2nd night in their new tat. The 4th one is still on the surface, moving around and acting happy.

But all the others are still down. They are completely covered. They've been down for almost 2 weeks. One of the buried crabs is about the the size of a quarter and the other two buried crabs are maybe slightly larger than the size of a nickel.

Should I be concerned or not? Is there anyway to know if they are molting, dead or destressing?

I don't smell anything bad coming from the tat.

I know this probably sounds bad, but I'm thinking if they are dead I'd like to dig them up and take them back to the store so I can get now ones. They have a 2 week return policy.

If you don't smell anything then I would leave them be. They are probably de stressing or molting or both. I had a crab this summer about the size of a quarter that was down for 8 weeks! He went down to de stress & then molted, I thought I was going to lose my mind waiting for him! Just try to be patient & let them do their thing.
