Post by so101isfun » Tue May 31, 2011 3:32 pm

Alright I really don't know if these ingredients are safe so someone who is an expert, please confirm this.

Ingredients: ( in order)
♦Papaya
♦Coconut
♦Pineapple
♦Sea Salt
♦Banana Chips
♦Apples
♦Mangos
♦ Rolled oats
♦Wheat germ

Is it safe? The brand is FMR Land Hermit Crab Treat.

sounds great! the ingredients are safe- are they freeze dried? Just double check the ingredients, some fruits are preserved with sulfur dioxide.

There is a safe and unsafe food list stickied at the top of this section

It comes in a little plastic can-bottle thingy. The ingredients only has fruit. No sulfur dioxide that I see on there. Only fruit. Wow! After $ spent and time wasted, I've finally found a safe commercial food! :wootjump:

I use it too, the Hermit Crab Patch actually sells a lot of commercial foods that are safe. They even have some good fish flakes that I've been tempted to buy for my fish and hermit crabs.

I know FMR Hermit Crab Food (not the treat) and T-Rex Fruit and Flower used to have Ethoxyquin listed as one of the ingredients but I see they do not now. I guess a lot of the brands changed their ingredients? There are a lot of brands that I won't even pick up to look at anymore because I remember thinking they were "bad". I guess I should really check them now and then for changes. What are the thoughts now on copper sulfate? I thought that one was listed as one of the no nos too? Many of the commercial foods sold have copper sulfate listed as an ingredient.

I'm not completely sure, I think its a dosage thing but I'd need to look into it more. All the HBH foods they have on their site don't appear to have ethoxy or copper sulfate in them anymore.

One food I'd really love to try is http://www.hermitcrabpatch.com/T-Rex-He ... /ft006.htm
