What is your opinion on this light hood?

Post by NerezaIce » Mon Jun 27, 2011 1:56 am

Hey guys!

I have a 20 gallon(75L) high tank with a 24in(60cm) long incandescent light hood and I am wanting to get a dual switch hood and I was wondering what your opinions are for this type of hood:

I would greatly appreciate any feed back!

Happy crabbing!

I have one on a smaller tank and it has worked great for me. I like that I can have a day bulb in one side and night glo in the other.

I use to have a day glo and night glo light set up on my smaller tank but when I got my new one it would have melted the plastic. So I'm needing a day glo and night glo light again because the bright bulbs that came with my hood and bad for the hermies to have on 24/7...

That's the fixture I use and I really like it. I used one on my 10 gallon, and still have that set up as an ISO. I liked the fixture and the dual cords so well that I bought 2 of these for my 90 gallon. I have 1 day glo and 1 night glo in each fixture. I use adapters to plug both day lights into one timer and both night bulbs into a second timer. You have to be careful that the night and day are very close to switching at the same time so you don't have both light on and make it too hot. I love my set up with these lights and the timers!

Yeah I'm thinking I am going to wait til my next pay check to buy this and then the next check to but a timer. I'm not home a lot so they would never get the 12hr periods of right light they need just like they aren't now.

The price is great...but I didn't like how the switches were located on the cords (and there are two) instead of on the hood. You would almost have to set it up with a timer, otherwise they're too difficult to get to on a multi-times-a-day-basis.

I ended up returning them and bought the Combination hood instead and love it.
