What's on today's menu & recipe sharing ~2011~
Great meals. folks! They're so tasty sounding I'm getting hungry!
Honestly folks, I've been busting my tailbone creating these gourmet meals for the crabbies, and I really don't notice that they eat anything except banana, coconut, peanut butter, and popcorn.
They ignore the pinky mice, the dried crickets, the fresh cricket, the bloodworms, the mealworms, the salmon, the fresh and dried shrimp...
So, I ordered a bunch of stuff from the Hermit Crab Patch and SueBee; hopefully my picky little E's won't turn their dainty noses up at it.

So I just received my humongous order from the hermit crab addiction store (waayyyy overdid it... hehe) and was so excited because they already ate some! I have some picky crabs that are still getting over PPS probably. But anyways, in my main small dish I keep hermit crab variety bites, spiruline brine shrimps, freeze died krill, cuttle bone, and crushed oyster shells.
I set up my pill holder again with the new stuff, so I could see what they liked!
-balanced food mix (ate lots!)
-build a mix- anchovies, cranberry, lentils, maple/oak leaves, millet seed, and red clover (ate lots!)
-millet puff (put in two and one was gone this morning!) and 1 hamburger chunk (edit: gone this evening!)
-bee pollen
-soy protein powder
-tomato square and triple peeper bits
-apple pieces and pink rose
I was so excited that I could tell that they ate food! yea!

The crab LOVED the strawberries and fruit treats! There was three gathered around it at one point and there were only 3 berries remaining this morning! (I put 7 very small wild strawberries in.)
For a staple I have freeze-dried shrimp, veggie fish flakes (with spirulina and other kelp/algae), worm castings, freeze-dried bloodworms, and some other mixed foods (I forget what they were. xD). I keep it in a small dish (looking for a smaller one, though) in their tank and store it in a zip-lock bag.
Today's fresh food: Steamed (cooled) broccoli drizzled with toasted sesame oil with ground up veggie fish flakes (mentioned above) on top. The non-molters all came out and ate some already, so I'm impressed. Sesame Oil definitely is an appetite enhancer, as mentioned.

6 PPs (6/12/11): Pinchy/Calypso (♀), Filo (♀), Clack (♂), Statler (♂), Petrie (♂), and Waldorf (♂).
Pinchy and Calypso turned out to be the same crab, pre-molt/post-molt.

Jackie's Hermie Omlette
1 egg, whisked
1 egg shell, crushed and whisked in with egg
1 tsp pumpkin seeds
1/2 tsp sunflower seeds
Pour the egg into a small non-stick frying pan. Once it starts to set add the pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Flip like you would a regular omlette, let it cool then serve. My babies love it.
