ssuction cup frustrations!

Post by fate4003 » Tue Jul 19, 2011 11:19 pm

Is there any alternative to suction cups? I just can't get them to hold anything, or stick on the glass. I want to put up a 2nd level shell shop...but the s. Cups never hold. Any hints or ideas?

that is strange they wont hold for you. make sure they are big enough to hold the weight. make sure the glass is clean and dry. wet the suction cup a little (i always spit on mine lol) and try sticking it on. good luck!

I have suction cup problems too, especially on my fake plants. The ones that the plants come attached to are pretty pitiful, and fall down almost daily (regardless of crab activity). For some reason it REALLY annoys me. I got a suction cup that was attached to a sponge you'd stick in your shower. It was only a couple of bucks, and it holds like a champ. Just a thought.

sometimes the plastic/rubber hardens and gets stiff. I throw the suction cups in a cup with hot water for a bit and it makes them flexible again.

I also love the 3M command hooks.
For me, they're they only thing that seems to hold up in the humidity.

I've never had a suction cup that hasn't gone bad. I now use magnts covered in plastic (one on the inside, one on the outside) and kitchen organizers that are high enough that I can hang stuff off of them. Good luck!
