Chirping
Chirping
My crabs periodically make chirping sounds. I keep reading here that when they make those sounds it's not a good sign. But whenever I look in on them making those noises, they're nowhere near each other. Is it possible that they're just doing it for fun? XD

Re: Chirping
I only have one PP who is a chirper, and he does it anytime he gets startled. For a few weeks whenever I would walk past the tank he would start chirping away like a madman, and then one day he just stopped doing it.... weirdo crab.

Re: Chirping
i actually have a singing crab. he is down molting now.....sadly. but he "sang" to me every night around the same time. he was never distressed, being bullied, or visually unhappy. he just seemed to like to communicate. i love it!!!

Re: Chirping
I used to seldom hear chirping. Now I'm hearing it daily, usually only for a short time. I always go to investigate, which usually causes it to stop. Obviously, the big human is more scary than the other crab. I did intercept and "issue" the other day. One of my Es was on top of one of my PPs and the PP was chirping. They were in similar sized shells so I added a few more shells that size.

Re: Chirping
My crabs chirp periodically, I'm not sure why all the time. They seem to chirp at my mother in the morning (she sometimes has to ask me a question before work). Scared the daylights out of her the first time. xD
6 PPs (6/12/11): Pinchy/Calypso (♀), Filo (♀), Clack (♂), Statler (♂), Petrie (♂), and Waldorf (♂).
Pinchy and Calypso turned out to be the same crab, pre-molt/post-molt.

Re: Chirping
For mine, I would have to say they chirp to communicate to each other and/or are calling out to each other. Came to this conclusion when I caught one of them chirping in front of another one. They weren't fighting or anything. He was just chirping at him... XD and since he was sitting on the cholla wood, it had this vibration sound to it as well lol
