Molting again 2-3 weeks after already molting?

Post by mckeanmr » Wed Apr 25, 2012 7:46 pm

I have a small crab who successfully molted and surfaced on march 11th. A few weeks later around the first week of april he buried himself again and I haven't seen him since. Is it unusual for a crab to molt again only a few weeks after he already molted? I do know when he buried himself the weather had turned off cold again and I had to start using my moon light again to regulate the temp. I thought maybe it got too cold for him but my larger crab is doing okay. He's been a lot less active since the other buried himself.

The small ones will molt pretty frequently. If you temp had changed in your tank it's also possible that he dug down for that reason. Unfortunately, there's not really a way to tell other than just waiting.

He has resurfaced sometime this morning! He seems to be doing okay and I'm happy to see him up in the surface :-)
