Can Hermies actually hear?

Of course! I'm not sure exactly how [maybe another member does], but I know that spiders hear by feeling vibrations with the hairs on their legs. :O Plus crabs make noises, so they have to be able to hear somehow!!

I asked the same question some time ago. I personally think it is the vibrations but I don't know.

Crabs (including hermit crabs) also hear pretty well, but again, not as we do. Their shells, and especially their antennae, are covered with microscopic hairs, some of which sense vibrations (others are used for "smelling") and send a message to the nervous system. However, they seem to be much more responsive to shock waves than to sound waves, so perhaps they're feeling more than hearing. Sometimes it's a fine line distinguishing senses.

My E's yell at each other when they grab each others shell or leg. So they must be able to hear or else that function would have never evolved so well.
