Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
I offered to substitute my blues for indos and violas, so she was honoring adding the extra crab in for the substitution. My concern is I ordered mine in August. Ppl have been waiting since early July. She's filling them in the order they were placed, as it should be. We aren't the only ppl out there waiting on orders. I'm wondering if I will even get my order. She never mentioned a 50% off discount to me, so I wasn't considering that. I really just want this to be over. It's already dropping into the 30's at night here in Pittsburgh.

Im curious... doesn't she have to have a business licence and in addition to that a license to sell live animals??? If so, seems to me a complaint would be easy to file and the BBB would be ALL over these comments...

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
There's a few things you can do if you want to report a bad online business.
1. Better Business Bureau. You have to file in the city that the company operates and you have to know their address. They will keep the record of the complaint, but unless the business is a member of the BBB (they have to pay a yearly fee to do so) the BBB can't do anything about it other than record that there were complaints.
2. RipoffReport.com. This is actually one of my first stops when ordering from a new online business. They keep records of complaints from customers and let the public search them to become aware of bad business practices.
3. The city where the company is located. They have to have a business licence, and cities are supposed to only licence valid business. Too many complaints and they may revoke or refuse to renew the business permit.
4. Yahoo. It's a yahoo-hosted commerce site.
5. Paypal. She's calling herself a verified member when she's not, and she's taking money for an item that she was not able to deliver on without having called it a pre-order. (At least, for the people who ordered back in July.)
6. The credit card company. If you paid using a credit card, you can report her bad practices to the company you used. It might not get anywhere, but they will have it on file for when the next person complains.
Would any of these things actually do anything? Probably not. Would it make you feel better? You betcha!!

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Whats even more ironic is that I forwarded this link to her last night to validate the frustrations of the HCA members being affected by her bad business practice and since then (less that 24 hours ago) I have received 6 (make that 8 ) emails from her. I pointed out to her how frustrating it was that it took me complaining to my fellow crabbers to get her attention and that this is the MOST communication any of us have had with her in months. I am awaiting a response to the fact. Hmmmm- weird huh?
Thanks Wode for the input, you sure are handy girl!

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
She's actually not wrong, but there's also no way to check to see if she is waiting those "30 days" before she accepts payment: https://cms.paypal.com/cms_content/GB/e ... ing_WP.pdf
The merchant has to okay the transaction before they actually receive the money, and the money is put into "limbo" while awaiting that approval so that the merchant knows they will be paid that amount and the customer cannot access that amount so the banks aren't shorted.
Still, for anyone who placed an order in July, it's been way more than 30 days.....
And parrot, please don't feel the need to pass on messages from her if you are uncomfortable doing so. She can register a new account if she wants to, or she could log into the existing LHC account: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=18409
Which, oh look!, she did three days ago.

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Just want to point out that's not me using any Admin powers. (Since I can't do that when it comes to sharing info.) I remember the company posting coupons from when I was a new member, and anyone can look through the member database by going to the "Members" link up near where the User Control Panel link is. * is the wildcard for searches if you only remember a partial username. Profiles are public and the last long-in time is there for everyone to see.

I would never think you would use your Jedi powers for anything other than good, and I realized it wasn't anything 'top secret'. Probably good you clarified because she might assume that since she's clearly checking this thread.

Thanks, parrot!
Also (just FYI), the Misc. section is one of the few areas of the forum that can be read without being signed in or even being a registered member.

I double checked on this - Merv did submit a proposal to the Australian government asking for an export permit earlier this year, but it has not been decided upon yet. Meaning he's still waiting for approval from the government before he can send a crab anywhere outside of the country. I don't know how long it takes them to decide these things, but it closed for public comment on June 15th and is still awaiting final approval. His last export permit expired in January so he has to wait for this new one. It took six months for his last permit start to finish, so they should be ready to go in October if things stay the same.parrothead wrote: Yeah but is she using that as bait???? That's my theory....

Wow! I haven't had the chance to log in and see this. It is just unbelievable!!! :-O
I got a good bonus at work and though about possibly ordering again since I figured they were on track now...after reading the whole post i definitely will not be ordering from her ever again! I'd rather pay the price for a healthy fresh molted crab from HCA (or is it HCP?) than to deal with this type of nonsense! Absolutely no way to run a business...
