Wholesale companies generally don't care about shipping at all. The few times members have worked with the wholesale companies and bought a group of crabs, the crabs shipped regular mail in the middle of winter with no heating pack. The only safe way to mail hermit crabs is overnight with heating included. She also offers extremely reasonable prices for the proper overnight shipping - the other good hermit crab place charges $60 overnight for one crabs and it goes up from there based on weight.

And the mites will be there regardless of source. Nearly all straw owners will get mites on the crabs they buy whether it's from an online shop or a pet shop. Nature of the species, unfortunately. Exotics are just that much more likely to be infected.

Up until this point she was also the only known source for exotics anywhere. Regular hermit crab dealers only carry PPs, Es if you're lucky, and there's one other place that carries straws that was asking even more for them and for shipping. Crab Addict just found a new place that supplies mall crab carts and has tried ordering from them since they have both straws and blues. It'll be interesting to see how the crabs are, how they ship, and if they survive.

Yeah I agree that there may be a few issue but I really don't see the problem, prices are ok-way better then crabby patch- shipping is standard overnight. The wait is a little long but she's not stealing money or anything. I will most likly order from cranberries next time as they have blue and straws but to get indos I would order from her again. I honestly have not had a problem what so ever. I'll let you know what condition my crabs are in tomorrow and ill take lots of pics
You said it didn't bite!.........Well..........It didn't bite me.

New babies! I ordered 3 blueberries, but got 3 violas and 2 indos. All appear healthy. I did see a few red dead mites in the salt water bath. They are iso'd and I think I'll order the predatory mites. The violas are interesting. Two are red with gorgeous patterns. The bigger one is already lavender. I did snap two quick pics before I left them alone. One is hysterical.

I'll post more as I give them a chance to settle in!
EDIT: I had two shell changes last night. I am worried about one of the brevies. Appears to be pretty stressed, very little movement last night. The violas are all over. Peekaboo hasn't switched shells yet, and really peaks out his hole before extending from the shell every time. He might be my new favorite crab. Found a few more dead mites on the empty viola shells. Haven't seen any live ones, but I'm not going to take a chance on eggs. I'll post more pics on a new thread later.
EDIT EDIT: did a second salt water bath this morning before work. Saw no live or dead mites this time. Checked second changed shell for mites, it was clean. Think I will just do the double strength salt baths for now. One viola will not come out of her shell for baths, though. Any suggestions?

Sorry for lack of update but I was very busy last night but I got 4 indos and they are all crazy. I gave them a double strength salt bath then a fresh water and I didn't see a single mite. Also the jumbo indo changed shells and I look in the shell and clean as a whistle. I upload the pics first chance I get
