Zoea *successful captive breeding & rearing of C. variabilis
Re: Zoea
This year is going to be a good year for crabby breeding ^-^ Its so cool to be able to see baby crabs. It just goes to show, not all the "experts" know what they are talking about (like "experts" saying its impossible to breed hermit crabs and that "we don"t understand how hermit crabs breed" crud).
Current hermits: About 17 PPs and 3 straws (for now)
A 180-ish gallon tank with two 36 gallon extenstions!
What can I say? I love crabs!

That is what some researchers have done. Set up right it can actually save time. One used a bead of hot glue as a ladder to let the little one's climb out of the water. Look for papers on compressus.wodesorel wrote:. Otherwise you'd need to put them all in tiny cups or something.

It's not impossible, but it certainly is hard! all we know about breeding is what people have learned through trial and error, there are probably still tons of things to learnChelsea716 wrote:This year is going to be a good year for crabby breeding ^-^ Its so cool to be able to see baby crabs. Wow! Major growth for your babies. What size is the opening on the larger shell?
