It still wan't enough food?

hmmm, maybe I can figure out how to make multiple Kreisel tanks that can be switched out like the jars for easy cleaning.

Every 3 hours a case let the eggs into the water. If I put in more eggs into one case of the auto feeder, there are too many eggs in the water in a short time. And may they cause problems (bacteria and stuff).
While cleaning and water changing the eggs swimm around. And the larvae catch them. Artemia egg shells can cause constipation (known problem at seahorse breeding). That's why I only put in a skosh of eggs in each auto feeder case.

naalide told me that her larvae eat a lot. I thought mine don't.
But then I noticed that they really really eat a lot. So I started to feed artemia (hatched in seperate jar) additionally.
When I come home after work, there are NO artmemia around. Some dead ones on the floor, but nearly all were eaten.
That's why I now think, that one reason why my last experiments failed was too little food. (maybe.....). And that's why I keep on feeding additionally with freshly hatched artemia.

Ya mine ate a lot in the last (first) experiment, but not so much this second time, that's why I think the zoea were not very strong to begin with this time.

I'm so sorry! This megalopa stage is really the toughest one. :(

in my successfull try I thought it is no tough stage.... Maybe because I did not watch and see all the things, that I see now. I was so exited, that I have not paid attention to every little thing.
the last one is dead. Project No 8 is over †

But we have new ideas. We do not give up. With a little bit of luck I will get new larvae in october.

I just need to make the zoea stage easier on my time so my wife doesn't get upset with me doing more attempts!

I'd like to know exactly what you did in the megalopa stage on your successful attempt. I'd like to know exactly what NAT did as well. And I mean detailed! There must be something we're missing.

there is already a detailed documantation of my successfully experiment:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bxr0FH0 ... sp=sharing
The link was given several times, wasn't it?

In this project, the megalopa stayed in the Kreisel till they took shells for one hour and more.
I used PhycoPure as living plankton. I used Tropic Marine pro reef salt (instead of Tropic Marine bio actif salt) and I used Dennerle Reef Elements.

At megalopa stage we feed krill of an other manufacturer. And we feed mysis first, after we feed krill, too.

All other things like: light, temperature, salt density, INVE artemia via auto feeder and stuff were all the same.

Yes you posted it before but I wasn't sure if you had updated it with information from other attempts or just the one successful one. Now I know it's from just that one :)

yes, but this is already the short version. The complete (day by day) version is only available in german. But the most important things are in this short version, too.

And btw. I got larvae again ;o)
They were in the salt water pool on saturday morning. Now I have again 2 species in the kreisel The small ones from 21-24. August (maybe marine hermits) and the new batch (seems to be lhc)

I am getting crazy about the larvae, that's right *gg*

But no I only raised violas.

As far as I know I only got viola and (one time) ruggie larvae.
But the last 3 hatchings in august seems to be marine hermit larvae. And the latest one from saturday seems to be lhc larvae again. But not violas.

but I do not know for sure. It's all a riddle and if I am unlcky again, I will never know what larvae they were or are..... *sigh*
