Kip- I'm so so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a really wonderful family, and I know you're a great uncle. I was really hoping it would all turn out differently.

On a separate note, the new crabitat is AMAZING!! Can't wait to see the crabs cruising around their new dream home.

This is the best thing ever! I can't wait to see the results. This is my second crab dream (the first is to convert a garage into a crabitat but my boyfriend drew the line lolz)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. We were also hoping for a different turnout, but he's not in pain anymore which is good.
Thanks! It'll be done soon!

Thank you! I would love to have an entire room turned into a crabitat!!! Let's see how this one turns out, then I'll decide if I'll do it! Lol
...if I have the money!

So, I've been moving back into my dads house and moving the crabitat was a mission!
I had to take everything apart and rebuild it inside the room once it was all moved.

Since the power was cut off at my old place today I had to get all of the crabs moved to the new place ASAP! I split them up into different Rubbermaid totes (smalls, mediums, larges/jumbos, and E's) I wasn't able to get a head count because I was more worried about getting them all out but i'll be uploading pics of them tomorrow as I'm putting them back into the 'tat.
Today I spent all day rebuilding the 'tat and making sure that it was waterproof. I also had to replace some of the tarps because they ripped during transport. Everything is good to go, just need to add the sand and decorate, unfortunately I am way to exhausted from both moving and yelling at the Comcast people since Saturday. It's been quite hectic
Luckily my cable and internet is all set up and I get to just lay on the couch and relax :D Well, until tomorrow  when I have to move more than 900 lbs of substarte :x
I'm really excited to get it all completely setup and finished so I can bring in the few adoptees that are waiting to be shipped once the 'tat is ready.
I'll update you all tomorrow!

Oh gosh, I don't envy you having to move everything. Hope it all goes smoothly from here on out.

Yes, it is a lot of work! I regret doing such a huge build! lol just kidding, despite the hard work I'm glad that the crabs will fit comfortably and hopefully enjoy all of the substrate and climbing room!

I'm getting ready to add the substrate so I figured I'd decorate the background before adding the false bottom, since I actually have to walk into it to reach. Here's a preview of what the background looks like so far. I'm nowhere near being finished, I still need to add the cholla, a few moss pits, another EE pit, and a bunch more plants.
(Excuse the cords  I was testing the lights.)

What you see hanging on the right hand side is a moss pit (bottom) and EE pit (top)
I'm thinking about adding coconut fiber mats or burlap over the weed fabric to be able to hang live plants from this and the opposite wall.

Fresh water dish, moss pit, and salt water dish (don't mind the dusty water dishes!)

This is the mess I have in the crab room... I still have to set up the 217 gallon crabitat! :|

WOW, the mess is worth it!
That thing - that you call a tank and we call a zoo - looks awesome! :) The crab will love it!!!
Also, that big plant you got i have that in my room, it really shows how big it is!

That's great! My husband would never let me have that big of a tank, even if I didn't break the "one tank" rule.

Maybe say it "time out" corner for the kids??? ;) It just happens to be filled with crabs, crabby decorations and has a bit of heat/humidity!

This is the most ambitious tat I've ever seen in my life, I really enjoy the process photos and I can't wait to see the finishing results. I hope when you do have the time, you'd make a video of it (like a tour haha ) <3
